So I've decided to go ahead and keep my blog. People would think my status updates were too long and boring if I put everything I wanted to share on to Facebook. So the last blog Haley wasn't here yet. And as everybody knows she is now! I have family that lives out of state (my Aunt Janet in California) and unfortunately life flys by too fast we don't talk as much and we would like to. I never got to tell her my pregnancy story. Actually everyone who was not there doesn't even know how it went. So here goes...
As you know I was put onto bedrest. And throughout that time I had been going to the doctor because of the toxemia to be monitored. Well I had been to the doctor on a monday (I was 36wks 4 days) and I went in for my normal non-stress test to see how Haley was handling the toxemia. The test went fine but I went home not feeling myself. I didn't have another appointment until next week. I called the doctor and said "I think I need to see Dr. Reed again to work something else out because she wants to induce me by 38 or 39 weeks and I just don't think that's going to work." They told me to come in Thursday morning. I woke up that Thursday morning not feeling good. I had my mom pick me up from my house and take me b/c I felt too sick to drive. I had another non-stress test. Haley was not moving around at all so they had my drink cherry kool-aid. I hate Cherry and I think Haley did too b/c she was moving around like crazy! (It was really the sugar that made her move around.) After my test I was scheduled to see the doctor. My mom had already went into the exam room and I had to run to the bathroom to pee real quick. When I was done I walked down the hall to the exam room and as soon as I open the exam room door to wait for the doctor..lo and behold....MY WATER BREAKS!!!
I was so shocked! I pulled down my pants and called for the nurses to come make sure that it was really my water and I didnt just pee on myself because I'm pretty sure I had gotten it all out when I had just peed in the bathroom!! It was definitely my water. My mom called Treys office and told Treys mom Cindy and Trey that my water had broke! Trey was shocked, probably scared and nervous, but excited! The doctor finally made it the the exam room and said "well are we ready to have a baby today??" I said no!! But I got exactly what I asked for. The whole reason I wanted to come in that day to see the doctor was to tell her I had to have the baby early because I was going through way too much with the toxemia!! I got wheelchaired next door to the hospital and admitted into labor and delivery. That was at 12pm on Thursday May 20.
I spent all day visiting with family while they all waited patiently for my labor to progress since they started me on oxytocin to get the labor going. All day the monitor showed I was having little non-regular contractions and I couldnt even feel them. I had seen several nurses come and go changing shifts without my labor progressing. Finally I got a new nurse at the end of the night about 7pm when family was still there who came in and gave the family hope. She said "we are gonna have this baby by midnight!" Well let me tell you, I still wasn't having contractions. In the meantime, my Dad is running around taking bets on his little notepad and collecting money from everyone on what time the baby will be here! Later everyone went home because the nurse told everyone that it wasn't gonna happen. No baby Haley by midnight. So at right about midnight the nurse rolled me onto my left side and I was having strong contractions! I was in so much pain I kept sending Trey out to look for the nurse because I needed an epidural NOW!! The nurse could not get the anesthesiologist right over so she rolled me onto my right side (because my uterus would not contract when I was laying on that side or my back). She did that so I wasn't in pain waiting for the epidural. The man came in with his little tool box pulling out all tools to give me the epidural. It hurt so bad!! More than the contractions. The nurse hugged me the whole time he was messing with my back because it was so painful. I'm glad I was half asleep for it.
After the epidural nothing happened! No more contractions on the monitor! So 6am came early and the nurse came to check on me. (Here is my Dad again taking new bets since the baby never came yesterday.) With all that oxytocin being pumped into my body overnight..NOTHING! So I had to ask her "Am I going to have a C-section? Please be honest. I've already accepted the fact that I'm not even contracting. Please tell me the truth." She said yes and Dr. Reed will be here shortly. So Dr. Reed comes in shortly after and examines me. I had not dilated or anything. No progress made from 12pm the day before when my water broke. Dr. Reed scheduled me in at 9:30am on Friday, May 21 to have a C-section.
Haley Brooke McDaniel arrived by c-section at 9:45am... on the dot. She weighed 6lbs 14oz. (Kinda crazy because 6/14 is mine and Treys wedding anniversary date). She was 18.5 inches long. She was born at 37wks 1 day which is considered full-term and very healthy.
I never knew I could love someone that much. It's been 3 mths since she has been born and it just seems like it was 2 weeks ago and I was in the hospital having her and seeing her for the first time. I hate how time flys by.
I will be updating soon to catch you up on her 1st 3mths:)
Also, check out all her pictures online on Facebook..there are plenty!!
